Blue and Snow in New York

sculptures and photos by marguerita

“The world has not come to an end,”

Mr. Bloomberg said at a news briefing.New York was a city of apocalyptic silence in the morning. The choreography of traffic, commuter trains and pedestrian hordes was missing. In its place, a plow scraped by now and then and a car or two churned past on deserted thoroughfares. Cabs were a myth. Side streets were impassable, and people muffled to the eyes slogged over huge drifts and mountains of curbside snow, trying to keep their footing.

By late morning, the sun broke through and the skies cleared to pristine blue.

THE HORMONES :Life while cooking a chicken stock

drawing by marguerita from THE HORMONES

Act I

The play begins with an acting company preparing to rehearse a play, incidentally one of Pirandello's own, Mixing It Up. As the rehearsal is about to begin the play is unexpectedly interrupted by the arrival of six strange people. The Director of the play, furious at the interruption, demands an explanation.

The Father reveals themselves as unfinished characters in search of an author to finish their story. The Director initially believes them to be mad, but as they begin to argue amongst themselves and reveal details of their story he begins to listen. While he isn't an author, the Director agrees to stage their story despite the disbelief amongst the jeering actors.

Phôs +phoros,Kidneys and Fiat Lux

So, apropos what I have within me, maybe in more quantities, than by the rule,ha!I began to research the origins or the roots,as we humans seem to be curious creatures. Our bodies, made of chemical, water, mass of carne or carnal and spirituality encased(s0metimes).

To watch the moments, the blue skies, feel the air,the vibrations, answer to our perpetual questioning regarding fear and hope.Sense the passage of moments, the sudden stops and returns. The mind and the body.

So here where go:

Phosphorus got its name because it glows in the dark.

"Phosphorus" is from the Greek words phôs (light) and phoros (bearer), meaning "bringer of light," and the ancient name for the planet Venus when it appears before sunrise. Its symbol is P, from phosphorus.Phosphorus was first isolated in 1669 by German physician Hennig Brand (ca. 1630-1692). Brand was convinced that the key to changing metals into gold could be found in urine. While heating and purifying urine, Brand discovered phosphorus! It was the first time anyone had discovered an element unknown to ancient peoples.

Before Brand's discovery, phosphorus and its various compounds have been mentioned in old manuscripts as phosphorescents, or materials that glow in the dark.

Phosphorus is a nonmetal. An essential constituent of protoplasm, it is used in safety matches, pyrotechnics, incendiary shells, and fertilizers and to protect metal surfaces from corrosion.

As a gas it is colorless, but as a solid it can be a silvery white or a red depending on the how is bonded with itself. It is a vital part of living thing, like in human nervous tissue.

It burns when exposed to air.

To Kid or Not to Kid or d'apres Bellow, sharing his "private consciousness"

.....fiction ought to address the great moral questions of human existence and “account for the mysterious circumstance of being,”

Healthy kidneys clean your blood by removing excess fluid, minerals, and wastes. They also make hormones that keep your bones strong and your blood healthy. When your kidneys fail, harmful wastes build up in your body, your blood pressure may rise, and your body may retain excess fluid and not make enough red blood cells. When this happens, you need treatment to replace the work of your failed kidneys.

  • Blood becomes more acidic, anemia develops, nerves are damaged, bone tissue deteriorates, and risk of atherosclerosis increases.
  • Symptoms can include urinating at night, fatigue, nausea, itching, muscle twitching and cramps, loss of sensation, confusion, difficulty breathing, and yellow skin.
  • Diagnosis is by blood and urine tests.
  • Treatment aims to restrict fluids, sodium, and potassium in the diet, use drugs to correct other conditions (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, anemia, and electrolyte imbalances), and, when necessary, use dialysis. from the web

Life: A la Recherche du Kidney Perdu

P.S About the adrenal gland

The body has two adrenal glands, one near the top of each kidney. The inner part (medulla) of the adrenal glands secretes hormones, such as adrenaline (epinephrine), that help control blood pressure, heart rate, sweating, and other activities also regulated by the sympathetic nervous system. The outer part (cortex) secretes different hormones, including corticosteroids (cortisone-like hormones, such as cortisol) and mineralocorticoids (particularly aldosterone, which controls blood pressure and the levels of salt and potassium in the body). The adrenal glands also play a role in stimulating the production of androgens (testosterone and similar hormones).

A Close Look at the Adrenal Glands

A Close Look at the Adrenal Glands

The adrenal glands are controlled in part by the brain. The hypothalamus, a small area of the brain involved in hormonal regulation, produces corticotropin-releasing hormone and antidiuretic hormone. These two hormones trigger the pituitary gland to secrete corticotropin (also known as adrenocorticotropic hormone or ACTH), which stimulates the adrenal glands to produce corticosteroids. The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, regulated mostly by the kidneys, causes the adrenal glands to produce more or less aldosterone.

The body controls the levels of corticosteroids according to need. The levels tend to be much higher in the early morning than later in the day. When the body is stressed, from illness or otherwise, the levels of corticosteroids increase dramatically. from Merck on the web

Of Insula,Peninsula,I Love You,Croquetas and Emotional Neglect

drawing by marguerita

" the idea that rational thinking cannot be separated from feelings and emotions. The insula, he said, plays a starring role "

What is the insula and how could it possibly exert such profound effects on human behavior?

According to neuroscientists who study it, the insula is a long-neglected brain region that has emerged as crucial to understanding what it feels like to be human.

They say it is the wellspring of social emotions, things like lust and disgust, pride and humiliation, guilt and atonement. It helps give rise to moral intuition, empathy and the capacity to respond emotionally to music.

Its anatomy and evolution sheds light on the profound differences between humans and other animals.http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/06/health/psychology/06brain.html

Looking forward to see you

Of Man, and Wrath

Rabbi Riccardo Di Segni, the chief rabbi of Rome

“With a minimum of irony, I will say that today is Good Friday, when they pray that the Lord illuminate our hearts so we recognize Jesus,” Rabbi Di Segni said, referring to a prayer in the traditional Catholic liturgy calling for the conversion of the Jews.

“We also pray that the Lord illuminate theirs."
